This collection consists of documents relating to the withdrawal of Elizabeth Sellers from the Society of Friends and her subsequent disownment. Included is a letter from to Darby Monthly Meeting explaining her reasons for leaving the Society of Friends. In the letter she accuses Quakers of failing to take action on issues of temperance, pacifism, and abolition. Also included are genealogical notes on the Sellers family.

Darby Monthly Meeting was established in 1684 by Chester [Concord] Quarterly Meeting out of Chester Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Darby Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) removed to Lansdowne in 1831. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, Chester Monthly Meeting (1681-1827) split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. In 1934, Chester Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued, and its two preparative meetings, Chester and Providence, were established as monthly meetings. Providence Monthly Meeting assumed the business and records of the parent meeting. Chester Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) then became the new Chester Monthly Meeting (Hicksite).
